A government minister stressed the Coalition’s commitment to renewable energy this week during a meeting with providers in Bristol. Junior minister for the Department for Energy and Climate Change Charles Hendry said that the government wished to support renewable energy companies in the long-term, saying: “We’ve got to be clear that we will not make retrospective changes. We may adjust the mechanism going forward for new applications, but those who have bought in on the basis of one regime should continue to earn based on that regime. That’s a core part of our thinking.”
There are many ways to conserve energy and improve a property’s energy efficiency, such as with underfloor heating, insulation or solar panels, but the government also wants to ensure that as much of the energy coming to the property in the first place is from renewable energy sources such as wind or wave power.
