We’re Here to Help
As concerns about climate change and energy efficiency continue to grow, more property owners are looking to take advantage of the Ofgem Boiler Upgrade Scheme. This scheme is designed to encourage homeowners to replace old and inefficient boilers with newer, more energy-efficient models. So, let’s explore everything you need to know!
What is the Ofgem Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The Ofgem Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a government-backed program aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency in residential properties across the UK. It provides upfront capital grants to support the installation of heat pumps and biomass boilers.
By replacing old boilers with newer, more efficient models, the scheme aims to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. Newer boilers are also more energy-efficient, which means homeowners can reduce their energy consumption and lower their energy bills. This promotes energy efficiency and helps households save money. So it’s a win for everybody!
Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Ofgem Boiler Upgrade Scheme, homeowners must meet specific eligibility criteria. Generally, the following will see you qualify for help through the scheme:
- You own the property you’re applying for. These include businesses, second homes, or a property rented out to tenants
- You have installed or plan to install your new heating system on or after 1 April 2022
- You will be replacing fossil fuel heating systems
To see if you qualify and to apply, we recommend heading to the OFGEM Boiler Upgrade Scheme site.
How Much Money Will I Get?
There have been some recent changes to the scheme, with the amounts that property owners will receive increasing. From Monday 23 October 2023, installers will be able to apply for the newly increased grant amounts. These are as follows:
- Air source heat pumps: £7,500
