Is it energy efficient?
UFH is much more energy efficient than radiators – but you should maximise that by having an efficiency test carried out on your property. This will assess the overall effectiveness of insulation in your home. Underfloor heating retains heat for a long time, so the room will continue to feel warm after you have switched it off.
What are the running costs?
Due to rising fuel prices, underfloor heating (particularly a water-based system) is much cheaper to run than radiator-based central heating. You will have to factor in things like how long you are running the heating for, along with the insulation in your home – but overall, you can look forward to much lower bills.
Is it true that underfloor heating is more hygienic?
Getting rid of radiators means that there is one less surface that attracts grease dust. This also results in less air movement, which means that less dust will be circulating around the room. This not only makes the space easier to clean but a much better environment for those with allergies.
Are the maintenance costs low?
Underflooring heating systems are made from very tough materials, so they require next to nothing in the way of maintenance. This is the case for both water and electric UFH. If you have a water system, you need to be sure that it is certified to BS EN 1264 when it is installed. This is normally valid for 25 years, giving you even more peace of mind.
Is it more comfortable?
Underfloor heating generates much more even heat, which results in a comfortable temperature throughout a room. Due to the lack of radiators, there are no hot and cold spots – and you can have the heating set to a lower level to achieve the same level of comfort.
How easy is it to control the temperature?
By using a specialist thermostat, you can change the temperature of your underfloor heating from room to room. You will be able to keep the temperature low in rooms that you do not use or turn it off altogether. Even if you only have underfloor heating installed in one room, you will find that the temperature controls are very accurate and responsive.
Is UFH compatible with most floor surfaces?
Underfloor heating is suitable for a wide range of floor surfaces, so you will likely be able to have it installed in your property. Tiles, natural stone, vinyl, engineered and solid wood, and carpet are all compatible with underfloor heating systems, and we will point you in the direction of the most suitable one for your property.
Can it help you create more space in your home?
Radiators may be commonplace in homes all over the UK, but they are certainly not the most stylish choice. No matter what kind of interior design scheme you have in mind, you can be sure that underfloor heating will not get in the way of your vision. After all, everything is hidden away out of sight! Whether you are embracing sleek, modern lines or want to accentuate the period features in your home, you won’t have to factor unsightly radiators into your designs.
Is UFH safe?
Underfloor heating is very safe and reliable, and you can be sure that it will run without causing any issues. It also eliminates all the dangers that come with radiators. You won’t have to worry about extremely hot surfaces that can pose a danger to children, and you can also forget sharp corners that pose a hazard to youngsters and those who are unsteady on their feet.
